At Vital Systems we specialize in Surface Mounted Technology (SMT), and we take great pride in our capabilities. We use top of the line equipment, which is operated by highly skilled teams, and are geared to produce the finest quality products every day.
Vital Systems first designed Surface Mounted Devices on a PCB in 1986 for a military application. These PCBs were also assembled in house meeting Weapon Specification WS6536.
The Beginning
Vital Systems has been assembling Printed Circuit Board Assemblies since 1986. Right from the start we were certified by the Department of Defense to the most stringent requirement; the Weapons Specification WS6536ESCN3. At that time, Vital Systems was one of the first few companies in the nation that met the requirement. We received our first order from a company in New York to build electronics for a missile program. Today, we produce electronics for our own contracts with the Navy and the Air Force and we also provide production capacity to large defense contractors like Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, and NASA.
BGA Specialty
At Vital Systems we specialize in BGA assembly; from very small BGAs to large ones in standard and fine pitch, we build them all. We regularly populate BGAs with 1700 pins and PCB assemblies with as many as 48 BGAs per assembly populated on both. All BGAs are 100% inspected using X-Ray inspection technology in multiple axis for better viewing to assure proper connectivity. Our success rate is what keeps our customers reordering year after year.
We Specialize in 0201
At Vital Systems we build products that most CMs cannot. This small PCB measuring .2 x .5 inches (shown on left is an enlarged photo) has small components on both sides of the board. These 0201 SMD components are no larger than a period on a printed page. We produced 10 to 20 thousand units a month on ongoing basis for several years. We successfully populated the 0201at a success rate of 7000 placements to a single component that needed corrected. The component attrition rate for the 0201 was less than 3%. This is a reflection of our process management skills.
The end product is a medical capsule that is used for the study of Acid Reflux or GERD. The device is a catheter free pH monitoring systems the first of its kind in the world and it is designed to transmit pH data to a receiver that a patient wears on the belt. For more information visit:
