PCB Assembly
Today, Vital Systems assembles a wide variety of PCB assemblies, from the price sensitive consumer products to the industrial grade precision assemblies that keeps our world ticking.
The Beginning
Vital Systems has been assembling Printed Circuit Board Assemblies since 1986. Right from the start we were certified by the Department of Defense to the most stringent requirement; the Weapons Specification WS6536ESCN3. At that time, Vital Systems was one of the first few companies in the nation that met the requirement. We received our first order from a company in New York to build electronics for a missile program. Today, we produce electronics for our own contracts with the Navy and the Air Force and we also provide production capacity to large defense contractors like Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, and NASA.
Industrial Grade
We deliver tens of thousand of these precision industrial grade PCB assemblies every month. Each of these assemblies is built to the exacting standards of IPC-A-610, Class 2 to meet the requirements of our customers and each of these units is built with the same detail and attention as military products.
Consumer Products
We also build price sensitive runs in very large volumes or ongoing runs essentially run round the clock. These consumer electronics are built to IPC-A-610, Class 1. However our attention to details is not diminished in any way. An example of one such run: 750,000 units was completed in less than 5 months. This run was classed by the ISO auditors as a Six Sigma Run.
IPC-A-610
After MIL-STD-2000 was retired Vital Systems was certified to IPC-A-610. Our production floor is normally geared to operate at Class 2 for meeting industrial grade production. As needed the workmanship level is adjusted to meet the customer requirements. For consumer products Class 1 applies and for the military and space applications Class 3.
J-STD-001
Vital Systems is certified to J-STD-001 for higher quality runs with process management.
RF Assemblies
Our significant expertise in building Radio Frequency (RF) and fiber channel assemblies require special skill and years of experience in RF technology. We produce RF products on an ongoing basis. We have built transmitters for missiles, beacon locators, and an assortment of other RF products.
Test Yields
At Vital Systems we ships tens of thousands of PCBs every month and out of these the untested PCB assemblies, pass testing at a rate greater than 99% consistently. The failures of one percent or less is attributed to workmanship and defective components.
Quick Turns
At Vital Systems we recognize that our customers need product on a quick turn basis. We can deliver product the same day, or on an expedited run to suit customer schedule. Our standard consigned runs are delivered in 10 working days from the time the received kit is complete.
Large Runs
Vital Systems delivers leading edge capabilities anywhere. It takes on challenges most CM turn down, or fail at. In 1999, an order for 750,000 assemblies was completed in less than 5 months for Sanmina Corporation. All units were tested and met the requirements. The runs were classed as 6s (Six Sigma) run by our ISO auditors.
